Inspired by the last of the Panhard cars, the PL17 and 24, the Bebe is a modern evolution of the Panhard brand in the form of a fashionable 2-door hatchback for the European market. One standout feature of Panhard's final models were the large clamshell openings front and rear, and the graphic nature of the vehicle's cut lines contributing to a distinctly Panhard look. Inspiration also came from the 24's unique color breakup between body, pillars, and wraparound roof. The name comes from the French word for baby, inspired by the small size of the car. Inspiration for the turn signals comes from the shape of winged eyeliner, seen on the PL17 as headlight trim.
